Carmen Rubin, a native of San Francisco, California considers herself a Cali-girl, Jersey-woman. She is the author of Meet Ashti, Ashti Meets Birdman Al, The Gifted Guitar, NY and the Boogie Man, Music’s a Language, and Social Eyes: Using Social Media to Help Others See the Brigher Side of Life. This is the first book of her inspirational “Nugget” series. She is the creator of the animated series, Ashti’s Do Crew, President of the Peppermint Candy Publishing Company and Founder of the Community Refuge Education Center, a non profit youth organization.

Author/singer, Carmen Rubin is an emerging voice and writes stories inspired by music and the lives of musicians. With her easygoing “jam like” style of reading and writing, Carmen preserves the richness and history of music by teaching it to the children.

She has collaborated with 7-Time Grammy award-winning singer, Al Jarreau to encourage youth to keep Jazz alive, read a lot, and help their communities in the best way they can. The two of them throughout their travels, mix music and message.

It is through writing and singing that Carmen has conquered some of life’s most challenging obstacles. The author and singer has taken those challenges and uses them as inspiration to build her life and the lives of others. It is her goal to leave a fingerprint on the heart of everyone she meets.

The author/artist’s dreams has taken her to the worldwide stage of singing with her favorite vocalists, meeting great leaders, and teaching the most beautiful children. Many times people use the words soulful, unique, creative, inspiring, and talented after an encounter with Carmen, and it seems that through these qualities many people are immediately drawn to her.

Carmen has collaborated with such organizations as Reading is Fundamental, Boys and Girls Club, YMCA, nation-wide libraries, and musicians to inspire children to read and become the best they can be.

Carmen is invited to speak in elementary and middle schools, universities, churches and facilitates various educational workshops. She enjoys enjoys traveling, spending time with her family, working with children, and reading. She actively works in underprivileged communities and uses her books and voice to encourage and promote literacy.

Books are compatible with school-based character and music education that creatively aligns with such traits as, initiative, compassion, respect, responsibility, and perseverance.

In her spare time she enjoys nature, reading, traveling, her family, watching documentaries, and laughing with friends. She resides in NJ with her family.
